About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented intern to support a cross‑product initiative aimed at improving and centralising material databases across our Simcenter portfolio. This role offers hands‑on experience with industry‑leading simulation tools and the opportunity to collaborate with multiple development and product management teams. You will help us evaluate existing material databases, unify them into a single high‑quality repository, and ensure they are accessible in all required formats across our main Simcenter products (including STAR‑CCM+, FLOEFD, Flotherm, AMESIM, and Simcenter 3D). This 9‑month internship based at our Hammersmith, London office is ideal for someone with a passion for engineering, simulation, and scripting, who is eager to contribute to a meaningful, high‑impact project.
What You Will Be Doing
- Review, assess, and document the quality and quantity of material databases available in core Simcenter products, following an agreed prioritisation.
- Analyse differences across product databases and propose a consolidation plan to create a unified “One Material Database” containing the best available data.
- Where possible, document the source of each material property (e.g., research papers, manuals) directly within the database.
- Develop scripts to generate the unified database in all formats required by each product (e.g., XML for STAR‑CCM+, JSON‑style for AMESIM).
- Collaborate with Development and Product Management teams to ensure the unified database can be integrated, maintained, and supported in future product releases.
What You Will Bring
- Basic scripting experience.
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, MATLAB, or Python.
- Competency with Excel for data organisation and analysis.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and an enthusiasm for solving technical challenges.
Nice to have
- Understanding of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), simulation, or fluid mechanics (beneficial).
