Siemens Mobility is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the Class 350 Desiro Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) fleet, which operates along the West Coast Mainline (WCML). We are currently looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated team at the Crewe Outstation, where we provide maintenance support for the Class 350 fleet—particularly for operations north of the Midlands. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, performing fault diagnosis, and completing essential servicing tasks to ensure the reliable operation of the Class 350 trains. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical background, with proven experience in fault finding and diagnostics. Previous rail industry experience is not required, as full training will be provided. This is a shift-based position, working 12-hour shifts across a rotating schedule of day and night shifts. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility and a commitment to working unsociable hours are essential. You must reside within a 1-hour commuting distance from the Crewe Outstation.
Responsibilities
- Undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan.
- Carry out download diagnosis and fault finding to an advanced level.
- Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation.
- Assist other team members with the development of technical skills.
- Specialise in areas of technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Must have relevant experience within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment.
- HNC in a mechanical/electrical discipline or equivalent experience.
- Fault finding experience - desirable.
- Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures.
- Good knowledge and understanding of tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
- Computer literate, ability to use a laptop for diagnostic fault finding and rectification purposes.
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications.
