Estates & Facilities Manager
Durston House School
Ealing, West London
Part-Time | 0.5 FTE | £40,000 FTE
Still want the responsibility but part-time works better for you.
Part-time management roles in facilities and estates aren't easy to find.
This one gives you real ownership of an independent school's estate, working 0.5 FTE, ideally across five mornings a week, although other working patterns can be considered.
And you won't be walking into chaos.
There's already an experienced, self-sufficient maintenance team who know the buildings and how to keep them running.
They need someone to provide direction, deal confidently with contractors and make sure maintenance, compliance, inspections, risk assessments and training happen when they should.
So you get the responsibility without having to do everything yourself.
You'll also help introduce Statlog, a new H&S and policy management system, giving you the opportunity to improve how compliance is managed.
Maybe you're a Maintenance or Facilities Supervisor already doing much of this without the ownership or recognition.
This could be your step up.
Or perhaps you're returning to work, or simply need more flexibility. You still want the responsibility, just with more of your week back.
Then there’s the pension.
Durston House contributes 14.1% of your salary to your pension, and you don't have to contribute a penny yourself to receive it. You'll also get free breakfast and lunch, staff fee remission for eligible children and other school benefits.
Durston House is an independent school for pupils aged 3–13, just six minutes' walk from Ealing Broadway.
And when there's a school event and equipment needs moving afterwards, people pitch in rather than leaving it all to “the facilities team”.
That tells you more about the culture than us calling it a great place to work.
What about you?
If you've supervised a maintenance or facilities operation, managed contractors and know your way around H&S and compliance, you're probably close to what we're looking for.
You'll need to be comfortable with IT and hold a full UK driving licence. IOSH/NEBOSH and education experience would help, but aren't essential.
