An independent school in West Kent is looking for a Maintenance Manager to lead an established in-house team across a large and varied campus. With 80+ buildings across a 100-acre estate, the site supports academic, residential and specialist facilities and requires a strong operational manager to keep everything running smoothly.
You’ll lead an 18-person maintenance team including electricians, plumbers, decorators and general maintenance operatives. Your role is to organise workloads, allocate jobs and make sure the team has the support and materials needed to deliver.
A key part of the role is managing the CAFM system, monitoring requests and assigning work based on skills and availability while ensuring the maintenance operation runs efficiently day to day.
This is a pure management role, completely off the tools. Rather than carrying out repairs yourself, you’ll focus on leadership, coordination and decision-making. You’ll split your time between planning work and walking the estate with the team to assess issues and agree practical solutions.
You won’t be responsible for everything. A separate manager oversees contracts and statutory compliance, allowing you to focus fully on operational maintenance and team leadership while working closely with an experienced and supportive Head of Estates.
We’re looking for someone with experience supervising maintenance teams within a large estate or facilities environment such as NHS, education, local authority or commercial property.
You’ll also benefit from 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, 10% pension employer contribution with no employee contributions required, free parking, free lunch during term time, access to a fitness centre, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance support.
Interested? Submit your CV below (don’t worry if it’s not fully up to date, we can help with that).
