Facilities Manager - Hard Services at Colfe’s School, SE12, South East London.

£52,500 - £58,500, dependent on experience.

You’ve got the experience. You just haven’t been given the control. You know how things should be run, where contracts could be tighter, and where time and money are being lost. This role gives you the chance to change that.

At Colfe’s School, you will take ownership of the hard FM function across a varied independent school estate. The focus is not just on keeping things running, but on improving how services are delivered and how the estate supports the school.

You will build on what is already in place, reviewing and refreshing long-standing contracts, writing specifications, running tenders, and ensuring suppliers meet the standards expected. Alongside this, you will deliver projects, typically up to £250k, from scope through to completion, while supporting larger schemes over £1m. This gives you real ownership of delivery, not just oversight.

You will also lead the maintenance function day to day, managing a Supervisor and two Assistants, ensuring issues are handled at the right level and giving you the space to focus on improvement rather than constant firefighting.

You will report into a Director of Operations & Estates who understands estates and is looking for someone to take ownership, not just manage tasks.

Colfe’s is a well-established independent school with a strong reputation and a long-term approach to maintaining and developing its estate. Set in a leafy corner of south-east London, the school supports around 1,300 pupils across its senior and junior schools, alongside a mix of teaching buildings, sports facilities, residential properties, and additional grounds.

In return, this is a genuine step up in responsibility and scope, with a package that reflects it. You’ll receive a salary of up to £58,500, a 10% employer pension contribution, complimentary gym and pool membership, and free lunches during term time.

This is not a purely strategic role. You will be visible, involved, and expected to deliver. There is real opportunity to improve things. That is why the role exists.
