The successful candidate will provide a proactive, preventative, and responsive complementary support service to that provided by teaching and pastoral staff. The role focuses on addressing the social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of students to remove barriers to engagement, well-being, and academic success. A key element is supporting the school\’s most vulnerable students, including those with attendance difficulties, in successful re-engagement with education.**Working hours**Monday 8:30am to 4:30pmTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30am-4:00pmFriday 8:30am-3:30pmTerm time only plus 5 days**Job requirements*** Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Mathematics* Excellent knowledge of common adolescent mental health and wellbeing challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, self-esteem issues, and stress* A good understanding of the principles of effective intervention delivery, monitoring, and evaluation techniques in a school setting* Knowledge of various evidence-informed wellbeing interventions (e.g., emotional literacy, resilience building, basic CBT-informed techniques).* Highly developed active listening, empathy and mentoring skills to rapidly develop positive and trusting one-to-one relationships with vulnerable pupils.* Experience working as a key worker for students with SEND is desirable.
