Job Description

Position Summary

The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) analyst will be part of the Americas team, which supplies and maintains analytical and investigatory services on geopolitical and security developments in the region. You will detect, analyse, and advise on adverse conditions that could affect the safety, security, and operational continuity of our clients. These conditions include, but are not limited to: political instability and unrest, crime, terrorism, governance risks, and an awareness of cyber threats. While the role is primarily focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, the analyst might be faced with tasks of a global nature that require a broad understanding of intelligence in world affairs.

As a LATAM Intelligence Analyst, you will research and analyse a wide range of information and write regular high-quality analytical reports to strict deadlines, which deliver insight and value to our clients. In addition, you will engage directly with clients to provide immediate support and consulting. Aside from written analysis, you will also partake in podcasts and deliver presentations to expert audiences around the world. This is a hybrid role, requiring to work in the office at least 2 days a week.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Research, analyse, and produce comprehensive intelligence reports on political, security, criminal, and governance developments across the Latin America and Caribbean region, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights for client decision-making
  • Conduct urgent threat assessments and security evaluations in response to emerging incidents, delivering tailored analysis that addresses specific client operational requirements and risk profiles
  • Maintain ongoing surveillance of regional security incidents, political developments and emerging threats, providing timely alerts and updates to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to and update the organisation's global threat assessment scoring system by analysing regional trends and their potential international implications and spillover effects
  • Engage directly with clients through written communications, phone consultations, and virtual meetings to provide immediate analytical support and strategic advice on security and operational matters
  • Provide backup analytical coverage for other regional desks when required, demonstrating flexibility and broad geographical knowledge to maintain service continuity
  • Process and analyse large datasets using advanced analytical tools, creating compelling visual presentations and infographics that effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences
  • Deliver rapid analytical assessments during crisis situations, working under tight deadlines to provide critical intelligence that supports client emergency response and business continuity planning
  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and professional events to represent the organisation, build professional networks, and gather intelligence from expert communities
  • Participate in podcasts, webinars, and speaking engagements, delivering expert commentary and analysis to professional audiences while enhancing the organisation's thought leadership profile
  • Ensure all analytical products meet organisational standards for accuracy, clarity, and professional presentation, maintaining detailed records and documentation of sources and methodologies
  • Actively promote and uphold organisational values, ethics, and professional standards within the team environment, contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Stay current with regional developments through continuous learning, share expertise with colleagues through internal briefings and knowledge transfer sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of political dynamics, security landscapes, criminal networks, and governance structures across the Latin America region (particularly Mexico), with deep knowledge of historical context, cultural nuances, and key stakeholders that influence current events and future trends
  • Proven ability to synthesise complex, multi-source information into clear, actionable intelligence products, demonstrating creative problem-solving skills and capacity to provide rigorous analysis of ambiguous situations under time constraints
  • Superior research capabilities with experience in open-source intelligence gathering, source verification, and rapid information processing, including the ability to 'sift' through large volumes of data to identify relevant and credible intelligence
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), data analysis tools, and visualisation software, with demonstrated experience manipulating large datasets and creating compelling visual presentations for executive audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse stakeholder groups, combined with strong interpersonal skills for direct client engagement and consultation services
  • Strong personal initiative with proven ability to work independently under minimal supervision, manage multiple competing priorities in fast-paced environments, and adapt analytical approaches to meet varying client requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of collaborative teams, with excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high professional standards
  • Established professional contacts within the Latin America region with preferably direct experience living, working, or conducting business in the region, demonstrating cultural competency and ability to navigate complex regional dynamics.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in International Relations, Politics, Security, Latin American Studies, or a related field
  • At least two years of work experience in a related discipline
  • Working proficiency in Spanish, fluent preferred. Additional proficiency in Portuguese preferred.
