A well-established engineering business is hiring an experienced Automation Engineer to deliver industrial control solutions across projects and bid phases. This is a fully remote UK role with occasional travel (~30%).
The Role
You’ll design, develop, and implement end-to-end automation systems, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, you’ll take ownership of control system architecture, software development, and commissioning support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions
- Producing FDS/DDS documentation and control philosophies
- PLC programming (Rockwell & Siemens environments)
- Network configuration and third-party system integration (MES/ERP)
- Supporting FAT, commissioning, and technical reviews
- Contributing to pre-sales, feasibility studies, and client meetings
- Participation in a 24/7 remote support rota (up to one week per month) is required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Degree-qualified in Electrical/Automation Engineering (or similar)
- Strong experience in regulated or hygienic sectors (e.g., food, beverage, pharma)
- Hands-on expertise with:
- Rockwell Studio 5000 / ControlLogix
- Siemens TIA Portal & Simatic
- Wonderware InTouch (or similar SCADA)
