We are currently looking for a Mobile Service Engineer for our prestigious client, who specialise in Heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and potable water systems.

You will mainly be working in London and Southeast of the UK, travelling to sites in this area.

With the requirement to travel to Head Office in the Midlands.

There may be some need to work outside of this area, so flexibility is a must.

There will be the requirements to work away (accomodation provided)

The role will involve undertaking maintenance and remedial works on water treatment equipment.

Work will be planned and prepared based on equipment specifications and system design drawings.

You will also be involved in pre-commissioning checks and testing equipment and logging accurate data.

You will also be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing, and replacing equipment.

The role will involve liaising with customers on a daily basis as well as the service team, so good communication skills are essential.

This position will involve travel over the Southeast of England, and will require you to stay away overnight at times - accommodation and travel related subsistence provided.

Would ideally suit some one who lives in the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Luton, or Buckinghamshire areas close to the southeast and able to get to the Head Office in Leicestershire easily.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance and remedial works on water treatment equipment through the application of accepted engineering practice and in line with our established procedures.
  • Plan and prepare your work based on the equipment specifications and system design drawings (Heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and potable water systems).

Ensure equipment and component installations are of acceptable quality and meet design specification.

  • Complete pre-commission checks prior to commissioning water treatment equipment.
  • Sample system water, check water quality parameters, system operating temperatures and pressures, equipment integrity and record measurements.

Set up and programme ancillary equipment and programmable logic controllers for effective operation.

Measure and calculate component timings, record data and interpret readings.

Provide summary reports to clients.

  • Prepare estimations of materials, equipment parts and labour, review access arrangements for remedial works. Condition survey for turnkey projects at client sites.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults, undertake like for like replacements and repairs in situ.

Reinstate operation and maintain efficient operation of the water treatment equipment.

Liaise with customers and inform on issues, necessary repairs, any resolved problems.

  • Manage daily stock, consumables and parts and administration. Complete site work forms and file all records to meet submission and reporting deadlines.
  • You will join the Service team and will need to be able to establish and maintain effective communication and good working relationships with all members of the team.

  • You are suitably educated to A-level or have an equivalent level qualification and have proven experience working with building services systems.
  • Your enthusiasm for the role and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • You take pride in your appearance, are well-presented and conduct yourself professionally at all times.
  • You're practically minded with an aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving. That you can work responsibly on your own and as part of a team with a common goal.
  • You're physically fit, as the role is a physical one e. g. you will be moving your tools, podiums, ladders, materials and replacement parts and equipment between your vehicle, site and installed locations.
  • You have a high level of understanding of Health & Safety at Work, and applied use of safe working practice. Please forward any formal training.
  • You should be able to provide examples of travelling and staying away for work as this is an integral part of the role.

Works are scheduled weekly and you are responsible for preparing travel routes to arrive to site and be punctual.

  • You have a full clean and valid driving license, valid passport / work visa that allows you to work in the UK.

Our fleet insurance policy requires all drivers to be 25 or over.

Interviewees will be required to sit a Ro SPA driver profiler assessment.

  • Disclosure and disbarring service clearance is a pre-requisite for access to several of our client sites.

  • Tracked Company van (once working independently this will be a high spec Transit Custom, e. g. automatic with aircon, heated screen / seats etc), for work use only.
  • Company mobile phone and laptop for work use only.
  • 6-month probationary period, reviewed at 1, 3 and 5 months based on feedback mechanism, followed by annual performance reviews.
  • Initial familiarisation and training ~ 1 - 2 weeks away at our main office in Leicestershire. The extent of staying away is determined by the service departments workload.
