We are recruiting for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our clients busy Warehouse and Distribution team based in Kempston.
About the Role
This is a key position within the operation, responsible for overseeing daily warehouse activities and ensuring the department runs efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be physically fit and able to lift items weighing up to 15kg. A high standard of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the warehouse team, troubleshooting issues and ensuring smooth operations
- Monitor and improve team performance, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, on time, and in line with KPIs
- Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality
- Identify, set, and monitor KPIs in collaboration with the Warehouse and Logistics Operations Manager (WLOM)
- Plan and coordinate daily work schedules, utilising reports and data to maximise efficiency
- Carry out inductions for new starters and agency staff, ensuring all documentation is completed
- Approve invoices and purchase orders within your remit
- Ensure accuracy of data within the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Enforce Health and Safety standards, maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor, train, and develop a team
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- The ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience using a WMS and/or ERP system
- Good health and safety awareness within a warehouse environment
- The ability to operate mechanical handling equipment (forklift licence for Flexi and/or Reach trucks is highly desirable)
- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience of conducting appraisals, performance reviews, and setting KPIs
