Siamo Group are looking for a skilled Wirer for a client of ours based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. This is a temp to perm position.
Shifts: 08:00 - 16:00
Location: Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire
Salary: Depending on experience
Role Purpose and Scope: The Wirer is responsible for the consistent, high-quality production of electrical assemblies, including wire harnesses, looms, and control panels. At this level, you are expected to work independently from technical drawings and wire lists, applying advanced techniques to ensure every product meets strict functional and aesthetic standards. The scope of the role involves end-to-end assembly, self-inspection, and functional testing. You serve as a dependable core member of the production team, maintaining high output rates while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.
Core Functional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complex Wiring: Execute intricate wiring tasks including multi-core cable assembly, specialized connector terminations, and shielding.
- Soldering & Crimping: Perform high-quality soldering and mechanical crimping to industry-standard specifications, ensuring durable and conductive connections.
- Loom Manipulation: Build and route complex looms on harness boards, ensuring correct tension, bend radii, and breakout points.
- In-Process Inspection: Conduct rigorous self-inspections of all work, identifying and correcting any non-conformances before final assembly.
- Functional Testing: Use continuity testers and automated test programs to validate that the assembly meets all electrical requirements.
- Defect Reporting: Identify and report recurring material or design issues to the Team Leader or Senior Wirers to support continuous improvement.
- Output Optimisation: Maintain consistent production speeds to meet daily targets while ensuring a Right First-Time approach to minimise rework.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to use all internal and external technical systems for daily job role.
- Problem-Solving: Able to self-serve and find solutions for issues. Ability to analyse minor operational faults and implement approved corrective actions independently.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication for logging work, interacting with team members, customers, and escalating issues through the right platforms and channels.
- IPC620 qualifications: Desirable but not essential.
