We at Siamo Recruitment are thrilled to be working with a local council in the heart of Swindon. As a Data Protection Officer, you will provide key professional support across the organisation ensuring peer review, quality assurance and information risk management as well as advisory guidance to maintain compliance with data protection and information governance standards. The role will also support DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) reviews and minor data breach assessments, helping to improve records, processes and management standards across the Council. You will work closely with teams across departments to promote good information governance practices and provide practical advice on handling sensitive information. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, vigilant individual who works well as part of a team, can confidently handle sensitive information, and is able to manage workload effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.

  • Full Time Monday-Friday 37 hours per week
  • £20.27 per hour

Role Responsibilities:

  • Process SAR and FOI requests, including complex redactions
  • Identify risks, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement
  • Coordinate responses to ensure timely delivery
  • Review and quality-check redactions completed by other staff
  • Provide advice on applying exemptions and redaction standards
  • Promote good information governance practices across the organisation
  • Maintain high-quality case records and audit trails

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Experience with complex IG casework, redaction, and advisory support
  • Skilled in quality assurance and peer review
  • Experience with DPIAs and data breaches (desirable)
  • Strong communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Able to manage priorities and meet deadlines
