The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring production orders are supplied with the required stock in full, on time, and that all warehouse operations run efficiently and safely. This includes oversight of all inbound stock, outbound shipments, fulfilment services, sample picking, stock control, and the management of two direct reports. The role plays a key part in supporting production and maintaining high levels of stock accuracy and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Stock Availability
- Ensure all production orders are supplied with the correct stock in full and on time.
- Monitor daily order schedules to ensure picking accuracy and timely replenishment from on-site and third-party storage.
- Work closely with Production Planning to forecast demand and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Resolve stock issues before they impact production or dispatch.
- Inbound / Goods Receiving
- Oversee all incoming stock deliveries, ensuring accurate checking, booking-in, and put-away.
- Escalate delivery discrepancies, damages, or shortages with suppliers.
- Maintain strong GRN processes, documentation, and stock integrity.
- Outbound / Goods Out & Fulfilment Support
- Manage daily goods-out operations including picking, packing, labelling, and dispatch.
- Ensure stock for fulfilment services is always accessible, well organised, and replenished promptly.
- Coordinate replenishment from bulk storage and third-party storage to maintain fulfilment stock availability.
- Ensure correct carrier selection, manifest accuracy, and on-time shipment.
- Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Maintain high stock accuracy through cycle counts, stock checks, and full stock takes.
- Consolidate and optimise warehouse locations to maximise space and efficiency.
- Consolidate stock across all storage locations to optimise stock levels, improve space utilisation, and reduce overall storage costs.
- Complete all stock movements on the ERP system, ensuring accurate tracking of stock transfers, adjustments, and receipts.
- Issue raw materials to production jobs in the ERP system, ensuring correct traceability and consumption recording.
- Take responsibility for all stock audits, both internal and external, ensuring full preparation, accuracy, and follow-up on discrepancies.
- Investigate variances and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure consistent use of FIFO and accurate WMS/ERP records.
- Sample Stock Management
- Oversee sample stock requirements, ensuring fast and accurate picking.
- Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and support two direct reports, ensuring high performance and strong teamwork.
- Create a positive, safe, and productive working environment.
- Manage training, performance reviews, and daily task delegation.
- Warehouse Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse operation, adhering to all H&S regulations.
- Manage warehouse equipment and coordinate routine maintenance (forklifts, scanners, racking inspections).
- Track and report on key warehouse KPIs (OTIF, stock accuracy, pick accuracy, fulfilment performance).
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service teams.
- Provide accurate stock and operational information to support planning and decision-making.
- Support new product introductions, layout changes, and operational projects.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or Senior Warehouse Supervisor.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and production support.
- Experience overseeing inbound, outbound, and fulfilment operations.
- Confident team leader with experience managing direct reports.
- Competent with warehouse systems (WMS/ERP) and Excel.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work proactively, prioritise, and manage multiple workflows.
- Forklift Counter Balance licence essential.
