Are you looking to join a friendly, independent accountancy practice where you'll be valued as part of a close-knit team?
We're working with a well-established Accountancy Practice in Seaton Delaval that is looking to recruit an Accountant or Accounts Assistant due to continued growth.
The practice works with a diverse portfolio of limited companies, sole traders, partnerships and subcontractors, providing tailored accounting and taxation services to businesses across a variety of sectors. With a strong focus on cloud accounting, the team predominantly uses Xero and is committed to delivering a proactive, personal service to its clients.
The Role
This is a varied position where you'll work closely with a broad range of clients, supporting them with their day-to-day accounting requirements while developing strong professional relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for a varied client portfolio.
- Completing bookkeeping using Xero.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Assisting with the preparation of personal and corporation tax returns.
- Supporting clients with day-to-day accounting queries.
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
- Liaising with HMRC where required.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates who have previous experience within an Accountancy Practice and enjoy working directly with clients.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous Accountancy Practice experience.
- Experience preparing accounts and/or bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of Xero or other cloud accounting software.
- A good understanding of bookkeeping and VAT.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, ACA or ACCA (desirable but not essential).
