Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business, is looking to recruit a reliable and organised Storesperson to join their operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous stores, warehouse or manufacturing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate stock control. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production has the materials it needs to operate efficiently while supporting the wider supply chain function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect and accurately book in incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Maintain accurate stock records using the company's stock management system.
- Carry out regular stock checks and investigate any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and highlight replenishment requirements.
- Store materials safely and efficiently, ensuring all locations are clearly marked and labelled.
- Operate FIFO/FEFO stock rotation procedures to minimise waste.
- Issue materials, components and tools to production in line with approved requests.
- Accurately cut bar stock, return surplus materials to stock and maintain detailed transaction records.
- Record scrap, stock adjustments and material movements.
- Prepare materials for despatch and support logistics activities where required.
- Produce inventory reports and maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Liaise with Production, Procurement, Quality and Accounts to ensure material availability and resolve any stock issues.
- Support with contractor and supplier coordination when required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the stores area.
- Follow all health and safety procedures relating to material handling and storage.
- Control and document recycling and waste disposal activities.
- Ensure IT equipment is updated and maintained as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in a Storesperson, Storekeeper, Warehouse or Goods In role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
- Excellent attention to detail with accurate record-keeping skills.
- Comfortable using computerised stock management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently using initiative.
- Forklift licence or experience operating material handling equipment would be advantageous, although not essential.
