A growing organisation based in Redcar is looking to appoint a Finance Assistant / Assistant Accountant to support its expanding finance function. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is looking to gain broad, practical experience across day-to-day finance operations as well as exposure to management accounting.
You will support the finance team with routine transactional tasks while developing your skills in reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes, with training and progression opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities:- Processing purchase invoices and ensuring correct coding and approvals
- Raising sales invoices and assisting with credit control activities
- Posting bank transactions and performing regular bank reconciliations
- Maintaining supplier and customer accounts and resolving queries
- Supporting month-end close, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Producing weekly and monthly financial reports
- Supporting budget tracking and basic variance analysis
- Maintaining fixed asset registers
- Producing Excel-based reports and reconciliations
- Supporting finance systems, data accuracy, and process improvements
- Providing general finance administration and ad hoc support to the wider team
- AAT qualified or studying, or early-stage ACA / ACCA / CIMA
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role is desirable
- Comfortable working with transactional finance processes
- Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Organised, reliable, and keen to learn
- Able to work well within a team and manage routine tasks effectively
