The Role
As a Personal Tax Senior Associate / Assistant Manager, you'll be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of private clients, delivering personal tax compliance services while identifying opportunities to provide valuable tax planning advice.
Responsibilities include
- Managing a portfolio of individuals, trusts, partnerships and LLPs, ensuring personal tax compliance obligations are completed accurately and on time.
- Reviewing personal tax returns and the work of junior team members, providing guidance and technical support.
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and responding to day-to-day tax queries.
- Providing tailored personal tax advice across areas including inheritance tax, capital gains tax, trusts and other private client matters.
- Supporting clients with tax planning opportunities throughout the compliance cycle.
- Working closely with managers and partners on more complex advisory projects.
- Mentoring and developing junior colleagues through coaching, on-the-job training and technical support.
- Ensuring work is delivered efficiently while maintaining high technical and professional standards.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the wider tax team to provide a seamless client experience.
About You
We're looking for someone who has
- Previous experience managing personal tax compliance within an accountancy or professional services environment.
- Experience managing a portfolio of private clients.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax compliance.
- Experience providing private client tax advice, including areas such as inheritance tax, capital gains tax and trusts.
- Exposure to land-based businesses, landed estates or rural clients would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of junior team members.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills and confidence using tax software.
