We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation based in Middlesbrough for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business in a role that offers variety, responsibility, and flexible working hours.

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple contracts, ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation while providing a high level of support to employees. The role also involves KPI and contract reporting, so strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process end-to-end payroll on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Accurately calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, and statutory deductions
  • Administer PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, SSP, SMP, and other statutory payments
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including starters, leavers, and contract changes
  • Collate data for contract and KPI reporting
  • Produce complex reports and schedules using Microsoft Excel
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and internal processes
  • Reconcile payroll data and prepare reports
  • Respond to payroll-related queries in a timely and confidential manner
  • Support payroll audits and year-end processes, including P60s and P11Ds
About You
  • Proven experience in a payroll-focused role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of formulas and data analysis
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
