Job Description
My client, a well-established business within the construction sector, is looking for a qualified and proactive Accountant to join their finance team in Billingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys working as part of a team, and is committed to delivering accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and accruals/prepayments
- Post journals with accuracy and attention to deadlines
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
- Manage CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns on a monthly basis
- Submit quarterly onshore intermediaries reports
- Oversee the purchase ledger across group companies and support the sales invoicing process to ensure accuracy
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent communication skills, confident dealing with colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Proficient user of Excel
- Knowledge of Sage 200 is desirable (training can be provided)
- Understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme is an advantage
- Familiarity with payroll processes would be beneficial
Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience)
- 26 days holiday (rising to 28 after 4 years) plus Bank Holidays
- Free onsite parking
- Performance bonus
- Full-time hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5:30pm
