We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy firm based in Garforth, Leeds. They are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Manager and Bookkeeper to join their growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented and client-focused professional to take on a permanent position in a supportive, flexible working environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing payroll and bookkeeping services for a wide variety of clients, with direct client communication and responsibility for compliance and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client payrolls and CIS returns
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping and prime entry records
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Communicate directly with clients on all payroll and bookkeeping matters
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with HMRC deadlines
Required Experience
- Proven experience within an accountancy practice
- Solid understanding of payroll, bookkeeping, VAT, and CIS
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently across multiple client files

- Xero
- Dext
- Capium
- BrightPay
- Sage Payroll
Working Hours & Benefits
- 28.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
- Flexible working hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM (core hours 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Option to bank an extra half-day holiday per month through flexible working
- 16 days annual leave (pro-rata based on 4-day week), plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown (office closed 23 Dec - 2 Jan)
- Additional 1 day holiday for every 5 years of service
- Modern offices with easy access to the M1 and Garforth train stations
