We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team. You will play a key role in ensuring production equipment and site facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on role where you will support both planned and reactive maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of food production machinery
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption
  • Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs or component replacements
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with health, safety, and food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times
  • Support statutory and regulatory inspections and ensure equipment compliance
  • Work closely with production teams to optimise machinery performance and reliability
  • Support correct machine setup and maintenance of production tools (e.g., blades/knives)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new equipment
  • Support wider site maintenance requirements beyond production equipment
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance activities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including breakdowns, repairs, and servicing
  • Manage and update spare parts and inventory records

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer role (ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desirable: Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent), though strong practical experience will be considered
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Experience supporting contractors or external engineers on site

Hours

4 on 4 off pattern, 12 hour shifts from 6am - 6pm
