We are currently working with a well-established, family-run food manufacturing business in the Bedale area who is looking to recruit a Dispatch Operative to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced environment where accuracy, teamwork and a commitment to quality are key to ensuring customers receive the best possible service.

The Role

As a Dispatch Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, checked and dispatched on time. You will also be responsible for managing stock movement, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all goods leaving the site meet strict quality and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick, pack and dispatch customer orders with care and attention to detail.
  • Use internal systems to book stock in and out of the dispatch area.
  • Load vehicles and move stock using manual handling techniques and Mechanical Handling Equipment (where trained and authorised).
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised dispatch area at all times.
  • Follow strict food safety procedures, including FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation.
  • Visually inspect products to ensure only goods meeting quality standards are dispatched.
  • Report stock discrepancies, equipment faults or issues promptly to management.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork and shipping documentation accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to all company Health & Safety and hygiene procedures, including correct use of PPE.

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a dispatch team.
  • Experience using Mechanical Handling Equipment (e.g. forklift truck).
  • Comfortable working in a chilled environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high standards of hygiene.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience within a food production environment.
  • Valid FLT certification.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.

Shift Pattern

07:00 AM until finish. Working pattern: 4 on, 2 off rotating shift pattern, operating seven days per week.

This is a key role within the operation, helping ensure orders are processed accurately, safely and delivered on time to customers.
