We are looking for a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager / Manager to join our team in Darlington. This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial clients, delivering expert tax compliance and advisory services. You’ll work with modern technology to enhance efficiency and provide outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review income tax, partnership tax returns, and P11Ds using systems such as CCH, Iris, and Taxshield
  • Support and mentor junior team members, aiding their professional development
  • Research complex tax planning issues and assist in preparing advisory reports
  • Advise on complex personal tax matters including remuneration planning, capital gains, inheritance tax, and trusts
  • Act as a point of contact for client queries and attend client meetings, events, or sites as required
  • Contribute ideas to improve departmental processes and systems
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through relevant CPD

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • ACA or CTA qualified
  • Experience in personal tax within a practice environment
  • Competent in tax preparation software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, confident in client-facing interactions
  • Excellent IT skills, including Excel
  • Attention to detail, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities

Desirable:

  • Proven experience delivering exceptional client service
  • Experience in team development and management
  • Knowledge of personal tax planning, residency, inheritance tax, and trust advisory
