We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team. You will play a key role in ensuring production equipment and site facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on role where you will support both planned and reactive maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of food production machinery
- Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs or component replacements
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with health, safety, and food safety standards
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times
- Support statutory and regulatory inspections and ensure equipment compliance
- Work closely with production teams to optimise machinery performance and reliability
- Support correct machine setup and maintenance of production tools (e.g., blades/knives)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new equipment
- Support wider site maintenance requirements beyond production equipment
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including breakdowns, repairs, and servicing
- Manage and update spare parts and inventory records
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer role (ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing)
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, hands-on approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Desirable Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent), though strong practical experience will be considered
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Experience supporting contractors or external engineers on site

4 on 4 off pattern, 12 hour shifts from 6am - 6pm
