We are working closely with a brilliant group in the Education sector who are looking for a Finance Assistant to support the existing Financial Department following some internal changes earlier in the year. The successful candidate should be skilled and knowledgeable in Financial Management and be able to work both independently and confidently. Communication will be a huge part of this role, so the ideal candidate will have excellent skills and will efficiently keep an open line of communication. Previous experience in schools would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- The production of invoices itemising all charges based on information from staff
- Monitoring and recording of receipts and following up on late payments
- Maintaining the purchase ledger, including input of invoices, reconciliations and statements
- Fortnightly BACS payment run for all suppliers and staff expenses
- Inputting details of invoices and payments to the computer under the appropriate nominal codes to enable the creation of termly accounts and annual accounts to the trial balance stage.
- Maintaining the Nominal Ledger to produce accounts
- Managing the monthly payroll, pensions and expenses process, ensuring that staff are paid on time and in full, and investigating pay queries
- Production and submission of monthly and annual pension reports as required
- Banking of monies received and maintenance of petty cash records and float
