We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our client at their head office based in Thirsk.

This is a busy and varied role, primarily taking responsibility for all day-to-day bookkeeping for the business, working closely with the CFO, along with offering some support to the sales and order fulfilment teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who is organised, confident working independently and enjoys supporting other areas of the business.

This is anticipated to be a full-time position however; we are open to considering part time for an exceptional candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities and maintaining accurate records
  • Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
  • Managing credit control and outstanding payments
  • Reconciling bank, credit card and control accounts
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Preparing quarterly management accounts
  • Preparing information and documentation for the year-end accounts
  • Providing financial information and reports to external accountants
  • Dealing with accounts-related queries
  • Supporting the business owner with general financial administration
  • Assisting with other areas of the business when required

Requirements/Experience

  • Extensive experience of Sage 50 Accounts, including sales and purchase ledgers is essential
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Experience of international payments and handling multi-currency accounts would be advantageous
  • AAT Level 4 qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using accounting and database systems
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and manage priorities effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Reliable, professional, and well organised
