Quality Engineer
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business on a 6-month temporary contract.
This is a varied role supporting product quality, compliance, audits, problem solving and continuous improvement. Training can be provided both internally and externally to support the requirements of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure products comply with applicable customer specifications and industry standards
- Measure and check products using a variety of equipment against drawings, specifications and standards
- Create and collate documentation associated with new product approval
- Support the concession process and ensure deviations from drawings and specifications are captured
- Lead the daily management of the Quarantine Area
- Assist with creating Standard Operating Procedures
- Conduct internal product and process audits, raise non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actions
- Support third-party and customer audits
- Investigate internal scrap reasons and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Maintain calibration of measuring equipment through internal and third-party services
- Manage Supplier NCRs and support Customer NCRs, including containment and corrective actions
- Lead problem-solving activities using methods including 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone and Root Cause Analysis
- Create Flow Charts, PFMEA, FMEA and Control Plans
- Maintain the Quality Management System and ensure correct revision control of quality documentation
- Support the Quality Department and wider business in achieving agreed KPIs
- Manage own workload, deadlines and assigned actions
- Liaise with customers and suppliers through visits, Teams meetings and email
- Complete additional tasks within your skill set as required
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Quality Engineer or similar role is preferred
- Excellent work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Competent IT skills, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand applied tolerances
- Willingness to travel, mainly within the UK and Europe
- Experience of Rail and Automotive industry product approval processes would be advantageous
Qualifications & Technical Knowledge
- 8D / structured problem solving β essential
- APQP / PPAP / Control Plan creation β essential
- Microsoft Office β essential
- Internal Auditor qualification β preferred
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Integrated Management Systems β desirable
- CIQA Level 4 β desirable
Contract Details
