Personal Tax Senior / Tax Assistant

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Office-based with up to 20% home working
Are you an experienced tax professional looking for your next opportunity within a friendly and established accountancy practice?
We’re currently recruiting for a Personal Tax Senior / Tax Assistant to join our Tax Department. This is a varied role with a strong focus on Personal Tax, offering the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients while developing your technical knowledge and taking on additional responsibility over time.
The Role
- You’ll be responsible for a varied portfolio of Personal Tax work, including:
- Preparing Self Assessment and Partnership Tax Returns.
- Managing your own portfolio of clients and dealing with queries throughout the year.
- Liaising with clients and HMRC regarding tax payments, repayments and general enquiries.
- Preparing 60-day Capital Gains Tax (CGT) returns.
- Preparing Let Property disclosures.
- Assisting with smaller HMRC tax enquiries.
- Analysing rental income and expenditure for Self Assessment Tax Returns.
- Preparing information for Making Tax Digital (MTD) returns, primarily for rental properties and smaller self-employments.
- Preparing P11Ds.
- Supporting the wider Tax team with other tax-related work as required.
About You
- We’re looking for someone with at least two years’ experience in a tax environment, ideally with a strong background in Personal Tax.
- You’ll need to be confident working independently and managing your own workload, while also being a collaborative team player. Strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail and good time-management skills are essential.
- As you develop within the role, there will also be opportunities to support and assist trainees within the team.
- Experience of Corporation Tax or Sage Payroll would be advantageous, but is not essential.
