We are looking for a Bookkeeper to join a busy accountancy practice in Cramlington. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with bookkeeping experience in an accountancy environment to work with a variety of clients, including small businesses, sole traders, and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate client bookkeeping records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with payroll as required.
- Produce management accounts and support senior accountants with year-end accounts.
- Liaise with clients to resolve queries and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
- Assist in improving bookkeeping processes and maintaining client records.
Skills and Experience
- Previous bookkeeping experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT, and payroll.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for client and team interactions.
- Proactive and willing to develop technical accounting expertise further.
