Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll and Credit Controller to join their finance team in County Durham, taking responsibility for payroll processing alongside credit control and sales ledger activities.
This is a varied role suited to a methodical finance professional with strong payroll knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information.
The successful candidate will manage payroll processes across multiple companies while also supporting credit control and sales ledger functions.
Responsibilities
- Processing of payroll for multiple companies including P11D benefits.
- Pension submissions via Scottish Widows Assist Me.
- Reconciliation and payment of PAYE and NI.
- Full involvement with the tax year end process.
- Primary contact with HMRC for all payroll queries.
- Responsible for credit control and sales ledger activities for multiple companies.
- Creating and maintaining customer accounts including the processing of sales invoices.
- Performing ad-hoc tasks as requested by the line manager, including holiday cover for other team members.
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience processing payroll — ESSENTIAL.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processes and legislation.
- Experience with Sage 50 would be advantageous.
- Experience processing PAYE and National Insurance reconciliations and payments.
- Experience with pension submissions and P11D benefits.
- Knowledge of payroll year-end procedures.
- Experience dealing with HMRC payroll queries.
- Previous sales ledger and credit control experience.
- Strong numeracy and financial administration skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
