Shure is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer with a background in wireless protocols to work in designing and implementing software for our market-leading wireless audio products. We are looking for a software quality enthusiast with good technical leadership skills to take ownership of projects and who will effectively mentor and collaborate with our large team of engineers across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of industry-standard digital wireless communication protocols.
  • Driver development (e.g. I2C, SPI, UARTs, LCDs, timers) on target hardware.
  • Develop products using SAFe / Agile methodology and associated best practices.
  • Leads cross-functional development team to design and implement cutting edge audio products and technologies.
  • Estimates, organizes, and documents tasks.
  • Practices established software development methodologies and principles focusing on reusability, maintainability, minimized complexity, high cohesion and low coupling.
  • Review the design and code developed by peer engineers within the team.

Qualifications

  • BSc Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Electrical Engineering. (MSc desirable)
  • Circa 5+ years of experience.
  • Real time embedded software development enthusiast, using C++ / C with a good understanding of real time operating systems.
  • Experience with wireless protocol stack development and testing for product development in areas such as cellular, Wifi or Bluetooth protocols.
  • Broad understanding of driver datasheets and the use of debugging tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Demonstrated ability of working on the application of key software design principles including separation of concerns, high cohesion and low coupling to facilitate reuse and maintainability in software architectures.
  • Ability to decompose large, complex software systems into manageable subsystems with clearly defined interfaces.
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Hardware knowledge is desirable, specifically the ability to review schematic diagrams and to understand target board layout so that specific signals can be identified and tested.
  • Experience with software version control and release procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Effective team player and comfortable in an agile environment.
  • Quality consciousness.
