Our customers rely on us to get compliance right. That's a responsibility we take seriously. Every day, our customers trust us to provide safe, well-maintained homes. Behind that trust is a commitment to delivering the very highest standards of compliance, ensuring that homes are safe, risks are managed, and our customers can have confidence in the place they call home. We're looking for a Compliance Project Surveyor to join our dedicated Compliance Team and play a key role in delivering our fire safety, water hygiene and wider non-M&E compliance programmes, helping to ensure our customers live in safe, compliant homes.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver statutory compliance programmes across fire safety, water hygiene, lift and lifting equipment safety, and other non-M&E compliance disciplines, ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant and fit for the future. Working closely with colleagues across the wider Compliance Team, you'll support the delivery of key compliance programmes, helping us meet our legal and regulatory obligations while maintaining high standards of customer safety and service.

As a Compliance Project Surveyor (Level 2 or 3), you'll manage compliance contracts and projects across our housing portfolio, with a primary focus on fire safety, water hygiene, lift and lifting equipment safety, and associated compliance programmes. You'll help oversee key fire safety activities, including the delivery of fire risk assessment programmes and related improvement works, ensuring risks are effectively managed and compliance standards are maintained. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll make a direct contribution to the safety and wellbeing of our customers and communities.

What we're looking for:

  • Customer Driven: You understand the importance of compliance in protecting customers and communities. You recognise the critical role that fire safety, water hygiene and other statutory compliance programmes play in keeping customers safe and ensuring homes remain compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Accountability: You take ownership of your work, managing compliance programmes, contracts and contractor performance effectively. You can balance competing priorities, monitor progress, identify risks and take appropriate action to ensure obligations and targets are met.
  • Develop & Learn: You are keen to build your expertise, keep up to date with legislation and best practice, and continually look for ways to improve processes, compliance performance and customer outcomes.
  • Champion Communication: You build strong relationships with colleagues, contractors and customers, communicating clearly and working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes.

You’ll bring:

  • Level 2: A minimum of HNC (Level 4) in Construction, Building Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Experience in compliance, maintenance or construction management, ideally within a social housing environment. Knowledge and some experience of managing contracts within budgetary constraints, together with experience of contract supervision and monitoring contractor performance. A working knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, together with strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Level 3: A degree, HND or extensive relevant experience in Construction, Building Surveying or a related discipline. Significant experience of compliance management within a social housing environment, including managing compliance contracts and projects through to successful completion. Proven experience of budget management, contractor performance management, procurement and delivering projects from inception through to completion. Strong technical expertise in compliance management, with the ability to influence stakeholders, contribute to service improvements, support the development of policies and procedures, and coach or support less experienced colleagues.

All applicants will also bring:

  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where colleagues and customers are treated with fairness, dignity and respect.

Pre employment requirements

The successful candidate will be required to complete Right to Work, DVLA and DBS checks. The role requires the use of ladders and appropriate access equipment to work at height and in confined spaces.
