This is a role where what you do every day will be seen, felt and make a genuine difference. We are currently recruiting a Caretaker to support our housing schemes by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and basic upkeep across communal areas. This is a hands-on cleaning and minor maintenance role for someone who notices the small details, takes pride in their work and understands the importance of well-managed, clean and safe shared spaces.

About the role: Working across a defined patch, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day presentation, cleanliness and basic maintenance of communal and shared areas. You'll work independently while also collaborating with housing, neighbourhood and contractor teams to ensure buildings and outdoor spaces are safe, tidy and compliant. You'll be part of a wider caretaking team, working alongside other caretakers when required and providing cover across schemes to maintain consistent standards. While much of the role involves lone working, there will be times when you work collaboratively with colleagues on shared tasks or larger jobs. This is a practical, frontline caretaking role focused on maintaining clean, safe and well-managed environments, supporting effective neighbourhood management and high standards across our housing schemes.

What we are looking for: We're looking for a practical, reliable and self-motivated individual who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining clean, safe and well-managed communal environments. You'll share our values and bring a conscientious, professional approach to a hands-on caretaking role, delivering consistent standards across cleaning, environmental management and minor maintenance tasks.

  • Customer Driven: You understand that clean, safe and well-presented spaces make a real difference to customers' daily lives and take pride in maintaining high standards across communal areas.
  • Accountability: You take responsibility for your work areas and equipment, complete tasks to a consistent standard, and follow procedures to ensure health, safety and fire compliance.
  • Develop & Learn: You're willing to learn, follow procedures and develop your cleaning and maintenance skills.
  • Champion Communication: You communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and customers.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience in carrying out minor repairs
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to use systems such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams and internal housing management systems to complete admin and record keeping tasks
  • Experience of cleaning work
  • A full clean UK driving licence, as the role involves travel between housing schemes
  • A commitment to Equality and Diversity
