What Will You Be Doing?
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this exciting role will, as part of the Technical Services team, ensure that our personnel are provided with sufficient PPE and appliances are fully stocked with operational equipment. The main duties of the role will include the purchase and supply of protective equipment, uniform, usage of supplier systems and using electronic systems to issue stores. Other duties include general storekeeping, station deliveries, liaising with suppliers and keeping all compliance documents accurate and electronically stored.
What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking proactive and highly motivated candidates with experience of using electronic systems to manage stock, stores and/or to plan maintenance for assets. Ideally, applicants will have experience in a technical field including industrial or safety critical equipment and PPE. The successful candidate will be a first point of contact for the team and must be able to communicate confidently with people at all levels. They must also be able to use their own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines. The role will include collection and delivery of equipment and vehicles therefore it is essential that candidates must hold a full valid driving licence. The role requires the successful candidate to participate in an out of hours emergency call out service, for example – taking PPE or breathing apparatus to incidents where fire crews are working. Full training and support will be given. The standard commitment for this rota is 1 in 4 weekends (Friday to Monday) and 1 night per week for which an 18% salary enhancement is typically paid to be available. Additional payments are made in the event of callouts. Candidates should hold relevant qualifications in Maths and English, as outlined in the Person Specification. Proven experience in the management of stores and PPE, procurement or contract administration and customer services is desirable.
