Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and resilient individual to provide leadership and direction to the Technical Services function. This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the operational equipment required to support the Services’ vision of ‘Making Shropshire Safer’ and our Community Risk Management Plan.

What Will You Be Doing?
Reporting to the Head of Resources, this role will oversee the provision and maintenance of PPE, operational, and specialist equipment. You will work closely with key stakeholders to identify future equipment requirements, develop specifications, and explore procurement options. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure quality, legal and safety compliance, and value for money. In addition, you will support the Service in achieving its Core Values and delivering its wider strategic aims and objectives.
What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking candidates with strong leadership skills and proven experience collaborating across a range of departments and disciplines. This role demands highly effective interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to lead and motivate teams while building positive, influential relationships both within the organisation and externally. Ideally, applicants will have experience – preferably within the Fire and Rescue sector – managing the provision and maintenance of PPE, operational and specialist equipment in a safety‑critical environment. Candidates should hold relevant qualifications in a business, technical, or engineering discipline, along with a recognised Health and Safety qualification. Proven experience in procurement and the ability to use ICT tools effectively to deliver this function are also essential.
