Oldbury Wells School is recruiting a Teacher of Drama (with additional subject) to join our team as a permanent, full‑time contract position, starting September 2026. The role involves teaching Drama across key stages, supporting student progress, and contributing to curriculum development and school improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Cluster Lead and departmental staff to design and deliver a high‑quality Drama curriculum aligned with the School Development Plan.
  • Lead curriculum development for Drama (and additional subject) and maintain accreditation with relevant examination and validating bodies.
  • Keep up to date with national developments and best practice in Drama and pedagogy, incorporating modern technologies into lessons.
  • Plan lessons and extended learning opportunities in line with the School’s Schemes for Learning and communicate objectives and outcomes to all learners.
  • Differentiated teaching to meet individual learner needs and create an inclusive, challenging learning climate.
  • Use support staff and external agencies to enhance instruction and student well‑being.
  • Actively participate in the School Improvement Framework, share best practice with colleagues and contribute to professional development activities.
  • Adhere to the School’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and anti‑bullying policy, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Evaluate student progress, use data to inform planning, and report findings to parents, line managers and the Senior Leadership Group.
  • Mark work in line with the School’s Assessment for Learning Policy and provide regular formative and summative feedback.
  • Comply with health and safety, safeguarding and all statutory and internal policies.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Senior Leadership Group.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a degree.
  • Evidence of CPD in Drama (or the additional subject) and curriculum development experience.
  • Experience teaching Key Stages 3 and 4, with evidence of successful KS4 outcomes.
  • Experience of leading and managing others.
  • Proficiency with ICT and the ability to use technology to enhance learning.
  • Strong instructional skills and an ability to motivate students to enjoy learning.
  • Involvement in the development of curriculum materials and an aptitude for improving learning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equality and inclusion, with a clear understanding of students’ diverse needs.
  • Outstanding teaching record and strategic, pragmatic thinking.
