You will lead and coordinate a varied portfolio of public health programmes focused on prevention, wellbeing and reducing inequalities, including suicide prevention, mental health, trauma‑informed practice, tobacco dependency, gambling harm prevention and wider prevention priorities as local needs evolve. Working with NHS partners, Council colleagues, voluntary and community organisations and people with lived experience, you will turn evidence and strategy into practical action that improves outcomes for local people.
Responsibilities- Lead delivery of the Shropshire Suicide Prevention Action Plan and support Suicide Learning and Death Review Panels.
- Shape an all‑age approach to mental health prevention and resilience, including supporting the design and delivery of a local Prevention Concordat for Better Mental Health.
- Chair and support multi‑agency groups focused on mental health, trauma‑informed practice, tobacco dependency, gambling harms and other prevention priorities.
- Work across organisational boundaries to progress stop‑smoking activity and wider tobacco dependency ambitions across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
- Use data, evidence and local intelligence to identify need, develop proposals, monitor impact and inform decisions.
- Produce clear reports and updates for senior leaders and partnership boards.
- Build trusted relationships with partners, communities and people with lived experience.
- Line‑manage 1.5 FTE, supporting effective workload planning, development and performance.
The portfolio will develop over time in response to emerging evidence, local priorities and the needs of Shropshire's communities. We are looking for an experienced and credible programme leader who understands prevention, builds trusted relationships quickly and can turn strategy into practical delivery. You will be confident working across organisations, influencing partners and keeping complex programmes moving.
Qualifications- Experience of programme or project management in health, care, public health, prevention or a related setting.
- A strong track record of partnership and collaborative working.
- The ability to work effectively with senior leaders, elected members, VCSE organisations, communities and people with lived experience.
- Confidence in chairing meetings, managing competing perspectives and maintaining momentum.
- The ability to interpret evidence and data and communicate complex information clearly.
- Emotional intelligence and resilience when working sensitively across areas, including suicide, mental health and trauma.
