We are looking to recruit a Healthy Lives Advisor to work as part of our Healthy Lives Team within Communities and Customer. The role will have a particular focus on children and families. Working to promote the strengths, skills and gifts of the young people accessing support, the postholder will work with individuals, families, communities, and other partners to achieve long-lasting change.

The successful candidate will provide social prescribing support for the most vulnerable young people in the community, including those with low motivation and confidence. They will manage a caseload and ensure delivery of appropriate and high-quality support for young people. They will work alongside other Healthy Lives Advisors, GP practices, other Shropshire council teams, schools and colleges to enable a person-centred approach to support young people to focus on what matters to them.

The successful candidate will have good communication, negotiation and people management skills and act with compassion and integrity. They will have experience of using motivational interviewing or other coaching approaches to support young people to make changes to support health and wellbeing. Working with a diverse range of people from different cultural and social backgrounds, the ability to work confidently and effectively in a varied, and sometimes challenging environment is essential.

The postholders must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post travelling across the whole of Shropshire.
