Responsibilities

You will support the management of strategic contracts on behalf of the Council ensuring effective governance, best practice and high standards of service are delivered by our supply partners, ensuring the Council has proactive supplier relationships to drive the commercial outcomes of contractual arrangements. You will contribute to service strategies and policies and continuous review of technologies and electronic systems to ensure working practices are updated and complement council plans. You will own and maintain the Contracts Register to ensure accuracy whilst working closely with the procurement team to ensure alignment with the Workplan and undertake and assist in a wider range of contract management activities including the implementation of policies and procedures, programmes of work, contract health checks to identify improvements in performance and minimise risks.

Qualifications

You will be qualified or have relevant experience and a broad understanding of public sector legislation and various government playbooks in the field of procurement and contract management. You will have extensive knowledge in managing a range of high value, long term contracts and supplier relationships and proven knowledge and understanding of budgetary processes and ability to effectively manage contracts within budgeted sums. You will have extensive experience of managing complex, high value, and long-term contracts and experience of contract and performance management within a public sector or a commercially driven environment.
