Role Overview
The successful candidate will work with the Trust education team, the governing body and other headteachers to lead the school as Headteacher.
They will hold delegated responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the school, including the education of all pupils, staff wellbeing, budget, buildings, Health & Safety and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage staff employment, wellbeing and performance in line with Trust policies.
- Implement the school budget and allocate financial and human resources effectively.
- Ensure the upkeep of buildings and assets and compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Monitor and evaluate all aspects of education using lesson observations, book reviews and data analysis to drive improvement.
- Sustain and develop high standards of pupil behaviour and welfare.
- Lead the school inclusively, ensuring a high‑quality curriculum and effective teaching practices.
- Develop, implement and report on the School Improvement Plan to governors.
- Act as the main point of contact for governors, the Independent Governors’ Board (IGB) and the Trust executive team.
- Provide a safe, inclusive, calm and well‑ordered environment for pupils and staff.
- Support the development of other senior leaders within the Trust.
- Write high‑quality evaluations and reports to guide future actions.
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status with a graduate level qualification.
- Relevant professional qualification such as NPQH (or equivalent) or working towards one.
- Substantial and successful teaching and leadership experience in a secondary setting.
- Successful prior headship or deputy headship experience.
- Track record of leading school improvement and raising pupil standards.
- Experience of leadership in both curriculum and pastoral areas.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Experience of managing staff and contributing to HR processes such as performance management.
- Understanding of statutory requirements, Ofsted, curriculum and the ability to translate this into policies and practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to keeping the school environment safe, with up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- Ability to manage finance and maximise resources for teaching and learning.
- Excellent communication skills across different audiences.
- Professional experience in developing a broad and rich curriculum.
- Commitment to the development of the whole child, including personal development and welfare.

- Experience of leadership in more than one school.
- Experience of delivering a successful marketing strategy.
- Commitment to developing the whole child through experiential learning.
- Experience of working with governors and the Trust to provide effective communication and advice.

- Salary and Pension
The salary is Headteacher Group7, with the range set on appointment.
The post is pensionable under the Teachers’ Pension Regulations, with contributions automatically deducted from the salary in accordance with the scheme.
