Self-employed Visiting Drum Kit and Percussion Teacher (ideally with the ability to teach orchestral percussion and develop a percussion ensemble). From April, there will be an opportunity for a self-employed Visiting Music Teacher to offer drum kit and orchestral percussion lessons at Shrewsbury House School. For the remainder of the current school year, we anticipate that percussion teaching will amount to approximately one and a half days per week, working with pupils from beginner to intermediate level. There is considerable scope to expand this work, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to work with the Director of Music to increase the number of boys learning drum kit and orchestral percussion instruments.
The Music Department has two drum kits, two timpani, and a range of tuned and untuned orchestral percussion instruments, alongside an extensive samba kit, djembe drums, and a wide selection of classroom percussion instruments.
In addition, we are seeking a teacher who would be excited by the opportunity to develop a percussion ensemble, to complement the range of ensembles currently offered by the department.
