We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Therapy Inpatients Stroke and Rehabilitation team at the Princess Royal Hospital.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with adults with complex acquired disorders of communication and swallowing.
We are looking for an individual who has an excellent understanding of evidenced based-practice within the speciality of stroke rehabilitation. The ability to influence and implement best-practice, to ensure we are continuously improving the quality of services provided to patients across the pathways.
The post is full time at 37.5hours between Monday to Friday, with participation in the weekend rota on the stroke unit.
Informal visits and telephone discussions are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
Our Inpatient Stroke and Rehabilitation team is a friendly and dynamic group of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Assistant Practitioners, with a Dietitian starting soon.
As such, this role offers a great opportunity to work with a broad range of professions to drive forward excellent integrated stroke care for the patient\’s we serve.
The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision and mentorship of Band 5 SLT colleagues, SLT students and therapy support worker staff. You will be required to deliver training within our therapy structure.
We are fortunate to offer our patients a 7 day stroke therapy service, at present from a SLT perspective we offer a 6 day service. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in this work pattern.
