Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Ward Managers and team of nursing staff within the Department of Acute Medicine at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. This comprises an Acute Medical Assessment (AMA)/Enhanced Care/Acute Medical Unit (AMU). There are permanent posts and secondments available. The candidate will require extensive post registration experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the work of the nursing team, building upon your own clinical and managerial experience.
- Assess and implement appropriate care for new and current patients while ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and resources are used appropriately.
- Supervise, manage and control the activities of a department in an efficient and effective manner within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Maintain high standards of care and contribute to continuous improvement of the department, monitoring patient experience.
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic approach and friendly manner towards patients, nurses and the multidisciplinary team, acting as a role model for continuous professional behaviour.
- Participate in teaching, training and supervision of all grades of staff and support ongoing development within the department.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the ability to lead and supervise a nursing team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive management style and the ability to respond flexibly to changing workloads.
- Sound clinical knowledge and experience in an acute setting.
- Proven ability to assess and manage department activities efficiently, ensure staff coverage, and use resources appropriately.
