We are currently recruiting an experienced and adaptable Locum Practice Nurse to support a number of GP practices across Taunton and the wider Somerset area. This is a flexible opportunity offering a variety of shifts and working patterns to suit your availability. The role will involve working across multiple sites, delivering high-quality nursing care through a combination of treatment room duties and long-term condition management.
Key Responsibilities
- Treatment Room Duties
- Wound care and dressings (acute and chronic wounds)
- Immunisations and vaccinations (including seasonal and routine programmes)
- Cervical cytology (smear tests)
- Phlebotomy
- Blood pressure monitoring and NHS health checks
- ECG recording
- Infection prevention and control
- Conducting and/or supporting reviews for patients with chronic conditions, including:
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- COPD
- Hypertension
Person Specification
- Essential
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
- Previous experience within primary care / GP practice settings
- Competence in treatment room skills, including immunisations and cytology
- Experience in long-term condition management
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Chronic disease management qualifications
- Experience using GP clinical systems such as EMIS, SystmOne, or Vision
- Up-to-date mandatory training and immunisation status
