We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum General Practitioner to support our Enhanced Access service, delivering high-quality primary care to patients during Saturday clinics. This role is ideal for a GP looking to supplement their weekday commitments while contributing to improved patient access and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective, and patient-centred consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and/or video)
- Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
- Prescribe medications in accordance with best practice and national guidelines
- Manage clinical workload efficiently within allocated sessions
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice’s clinical system
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
- Support continuity of care and appropriate follow-up arrangements
- Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance standards
Enhanced Access Duties
- Deliver appointments as part of the Enhanced Access programme, improving availability outside core hours
- Manage pre-booked and, where appropriate, same-day appointments
- Provide urgent care within primary care scope
- Ensure appropriate signposting or escalation when required
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified GP with current registration on the General Medical Council GP Register
- Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
- Valid licence to practise in the UK
- Up-to-date indemnity cover
- Excellent clinical, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in Enhanced Access or out-of-hours GP services
- Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne, or other GP clinical systems
- Experience working in diverse or high-demand primary care settings
