We are currently recruiting for an experienced GP Surgery Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join a well-established and supportive practice in Oxford on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an HCA with strong primary care experience, confident EMIS skills, and knowledge of key QOF indicators.
The Role
You will work closely with the GP and Nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care and support the achievement of QOF targets.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy
- NHS Health Checks
- New Patient Health Checks
- ECG recording
- Blood pressure monitoring (including ambulatory BP)
- Wound care and dressings
- Suture/clip removal
- Urinalysis
- Height, weight & BMI checks
- Smoking cessation advice
- Vaccinations & immunisations (if trained)
Chronic Disease & QOF Support
You will support the practice in achieving and maintaining key QOF indicators, including:
- Diabetes reviews (BP, HbA1c support, foot checks support)
- Hypertension monitoring
- Asthma & COPD reviews (including inhaler technique checks)
- Cardiovascular disease monitoring
- CKD monitoring
- Learning disability health checks
- Mental health physical health checks
Strong awareness of accurate coding and recall systems is essential.
Essential Requirements
- Previous GP Surgery experience
- Confident use of EMIS Web
- Phlebotomy competency
- Understanding of QOF indicators
- Ability to work independently within scope
- Excellent patient communication skills
