Responsibilities
- Provide personalized and evidence-based nursing care to patients in a treatment room setting including health assessments, wound care and chronic disease management.
- Administer immunizations, vaccinations and other injections as part of health promotion initiatives.
- Participate in treatment room duties such as suture removal, dressings, ear syringing and cervical smear collection.
- Collaborate with General Practitioners (GPs) and other healthcare team members to contribute to patient care plans and clinical audits.
- Educate and offer advice to patients regarding health promotion, disease prevention and lifestyle changes.
- Support patients with managing their medical conditions including diabetes, asthma, hypertension and other chronic diseases.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records using electronic health systems according to practice policies and confidentiality standards.
- Actively contribute to the overall efficiency of the practice supporting teamwork and efficient patient care processes.
- Keep up to date with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards and best practices to ensure care is safe, effective and compliant.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current valid nursing qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience working as a Practice Nurse or within a primary care setting is highly desirable.
- Competency in treatment room procedures such as wound care, vaccinations and sample collections.
- Proven ability to manage chronic disease care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with a diverse patient base.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a busy clinical environment.
- A proactive and compassionate approach to patient care.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
Day-to-day
- Welcoming patients to the treatment room and delivering patient-centred care in a friendly and professional manner.
- Performing and managing clinical duties efficiently such as applying dressings, wound cleaning or administering injections.
- Educating patients during routine check-ups about health strategies and treatment regimens.
- Preparing and maintaining sterile environments for procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to review patient charts and share updates on care plans and progress.
- Monitoring and managing stock levels of medical supplies and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment.
- Maintaining detailed up-to-date patient records and documentation on electronic systems.
- Participating in team meetings and offering input on improving patient care services.
- Supporting initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle among patients in your care.
