Role Responsibilities
- Supporting the Group Head of Sustainability & Social Impact in improving and developing the environmental performance of the Showcase Group.
- Managing supply chain performance; auditing key suppliers and providing data to line manager to ensure continuous improvement in sustainability standards and accurate capture of environmental impact that falls under Showcase’s jurisdiction (Scope 3).
- Supporting the Group Head of Sustainability & Social Impact in maintaining Showcase’s Green League, to ensure that we make an annual improvement with regards to sustainable procurement.
- Supporting project teams with client sustainability objectives, including project carbon impact through furniture, freight, delivery & installation and reuse.
- This is often led by Green Building Certifications, such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL and SKA, so a basic understanding of these would be beneficial.
- Assisting with tenders and contributing towards annual sustainability questionnaires (CDP, Ecovadis, etc).
- Assisting in the maintenance of our ISO14001-certified EMS.
- Contributing towards the annual environmental data collation that is required for our transparent sustainability certifications.
- Contributing to case studies and researching innovative materials.
- Keeping abreast of relevant UK environmental legislation, guidance, and best practice relating to sustainability and ESG.
- Delivery of environmental presentations both internally (training, industry innovations, sustainability updates) and externally (Showcase’s sustainability credentials and transparent approach).
- Support the sales teams with information around our sustainability commitments, ensuring that all information is transparent and objectives are achievable.
- Contributing to, and identifying new routes that may improve, our CSR objectives.
Skills and Experience Required
- Degree in environmental science, sustainability studies, sustainable design or supply chain management.
- Understanding of UK environmental legislation; this is a key requirement.
- Good standard of written communication.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience of managing workload across departments and adjusting timescales accordingly.
Desirable
- Previous role in sustainability and/or supply chain management.
- Experience of the furniture industry.
- Some knowledge of key European environmental legislation would be desirable but not essential.
