Broadcast PR Specialist

Full-Time No home office possible
Shout! Communications

Shout! Communications is a long established, London based, specialist broadcast PR agency. We work with an exciting stable of household name brands and well-known PR agencies, securing high quality coverage for clients on UK and international broadcast channels.

We are looking for a Senior Account Executive with proven experience in broadcast (radio, TV, podcasts) to join our media relations team in London.

This is an editorial, not a broadcast production (tech) job. It would suit someone who has worked as a broadcast journalist, or programme editorial producer – or a PR or comms professional who just loves radio and television.

Responsibilities

  • Selling stories to broadcast journalists (radio, TV and podcasts), and in order to do this establishing and maintaining good journalist relations
  • Overseeing radio days and producing radio studio sessions (remote and on location)
  • Analyzing research, and drafting and writing press releases
  • Ensuring compilation of final reports, including evaluation and audio and video clips
  • Supporting the company with new business, marketing, admin etc

Required Qualifications And Qualities

  • A contact book full of broadcast journalists you speak to on a regular basis
  • A thorough knowledge of UK broadcast media – regional radio and television, national radio and television. Ideally you\’ll have at least a working knowledge of English language international broadcasters too (such as BBC World Service TV, CNN or CNBC).
  • Experience placing spokespeople on podcasts is desirable
  • Strong writing ability. You\’ll need to draft press releases and blogs.
  • Experience dealing with clients
  • The ability to self‑start, multi‑task and be calm in a crisis
  • A love of talking to people – this job will not suit someone who wants to hide behind an email! You need to speak to journalists and clients.
  • An idea to put forward in a brainstorm
  • A willingness to work occasional weekends and flexible hours
  • If you\’ve actually worked in broadcast as a journalist or editorial producer, even better

What The Job Looks Like

Currently we all work remotely but collaboratively. There are team meetings at least once a day on WhatsApp and Zoom and the company gets together, face to face regularly, mainly in West London.

You’ll also be required to come into Central London for journalist and client meetings, typically 2–3 times a month (and, with certain limits, we pay your travel to do this). And you will be traveling in London and further afield at times with our pop‑up radio studio.

Salary dependent on experience but in the region of £35,000 – £45,000.

We are committed to offering a minimum of 24 hours training a year – a mix of one‑to‑one and on‑the‑job training, mainly in‑house, but sometimes using external suppliers.

Other benefits include a monthly mobile phone allowance, pension, an annual eye test and 25 days holiday.
