Shots in the Community Foundation are the affiliated club community organisation (CCO) of Aldershot Town Football Club (registered charity: 1172414). Aldershot Town Football Club are an established professional football club competing in the Enterprise National League.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join the Shots Foundation team. This role is funded by The Veterans’ Foundation as is for the fixed-term of one year from the start of your employment. Future employment beyond that date will be subject to obtaining a further grant. The Military and Veterans Officer will lead, develop and deliver the Shots Foundation's work with serving personnel, veterans, military families and the wider armed forces community. The role will strengthen engagement, reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing and increase access to support services and opportunities.
In your role you will be expected to always represent both the Shots Foundation and Aldershot Town Football Club professionally and respectfully. You will report to the Head of Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate military and veterans support programmes.
- Develop and grow existing projects such as the Veterans' Hub and wellbeing activities. New projects should focus on younger Veterans and be reflective of the local need.
- Deliver outreach and community engagement activities to Veterans and their dependents.
- Build partnerships with military units, charities and statutory services.
- Provide support, signposting and referral to specialist services.
- Maintain monitoring and evaluation records and contribute to funder reports.
- Ensure safeguarding, GDPR and organisational policies are followed.
Person Specification
- Experience in community engagement, wellbeing, veterans’ services or related fields.
- Understanding of issues affecting veterans and military families.
- Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
- Ability to organise projects and manage competing priorities.
- Good IT and reporting skills.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
- Military service or military family experience.
- Experience working with veterans organisations.
- Knowledge of the Armed Forces Covenant.
- Mental Health First Aid or safeguarding qualifications.
- Complimentary tickets to Aldershot Town Football Club home fixtures.
- Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses paid.
- Paid annual leave.
- Experience of working for and being part of the team at a professional football club.
